Pioneer Day Picnic

This afternoon we attended our Stake Pioneer Day Picnic at nearby Woodland Park. We brought Shelby along to be a "conversation starter".

Emma had no trouble making new friends (no surprise there). She even found someone willing to let her play with her baby.

Emma created this hair-do all by herself.

Jake enjoyed the company of the missionaries, which makes sense. (We've had them over for dinner and found them to be at his same maturity level). Here they are playing hacky sack...

Too cool for school ( he also does his own hair).

You may have noticed Emma's yellow bracelet. It's there to ward of insects. Since the humidity hit, the bugs are multiplying like crazy. We constantly spray ourselvelves with OFF so that we won't get eaten alive.

I love this kid. He and his sister are best friends right now, not that they have a choice. We can't wait until school starts and our social life picks up.

Rick surprised us by showing up halfway through. He was on call, but things were slow enough for him to get away for awhile. We won't see him again until tomorrow afternoon when we tuck him into bed for his nap.
