The Toledo Zoo

We planned to go to the Lucas County Fair today, but we were pretty disappointed when we drove by. There were too many spinning rides for us! Instead, we drove to the highly acclaimed Toledo Zoo (It's considered to be 1 of the top 10 zoos in America). We weren't surprised. We had such a fabulous time that we bought an annual family membership , ensuring frequent visits.



One of the great things about this zoo is proximity to the animals. We were inches away from hippos, rhinos, polar bears, and bald eagles.




The African savanna has a "safari train" that cuts right through. We plan on taking that ride next week. We did get to see the giraffes and zebras from afar though.



It's a good thing Rick's arms are long!



Clever Emma! She fashioned this handy little bonnet out of a zoo map and headband. Her cheeks still managed to get pink unfortunately.



We lasted about 3 1/2 hours until we got hungry for a Very Berry Sundae from Costco. Knowing we could come back soon made it easy to leave. Next week: safari train and butterfly house!
