We lucked out when we bought our first house. Tom and Mindy Cuthbertson were our neighbors just 3 doors down and we became fast friends. So did our kids. Tommy was Jake's first best buddy. They played together from the time they could sit up. One of the hardest parts about moving away from our little house on Cholla was leaving our dear friends behind. I cried and cried over that!

We had a reunion of sorts last Monday. Conveniently, Mindy homeschools her kids, so we got together in the afternoon and partied through the night. Jake and Emma enjoyed playing with kids their own age, especially in the Cuthbertson's huge backyard. Emma discovered that she liked climbing their citrus trees.



Emma spent a lot of time mothering their youngest of 6 since she was outnumbered by boys. Isn't she a cutie? Rick was particularly taken with her.



They've built a large fire pit in their backyard which the guys cooked foil dinners in. The home cooked meal sure tasted great after all the eating out we've done lately!



Tom kept things cooking on the grill too.



Later we had Family Home Evening, complete with a lesson by Mindy. For our game, Tommy suggested we play Ghosts in the Graveyard out back. We all participated (though I sustained an injury due to my inadequate platform-ish shoes). To top things off, we enjoyed S'mores over the fire. YUM!
