We were only allowed to photograph the basement, which is where we spent the first part of our tour. We learned about daily life in generations past. Jacob got to use a yoke to carry buckets, a chore he might have had 100+ years ago.
He said the buckets were heavy enough WITHOUT the water.
Emma practiced washing laundry the old fashioned way using soap and a scrub board.
I should make her wash her laundry like this on days she gives me trouble about chores. Maybe that will help her appreciate how easy she really has it.

We are spoiled and soft, compared to those early settlers. I am SOOO glad that I don't have to use a rub board to wash my clothes, and I sure would not want to have to go to the river to get my water...Jake, you can have that job!

You have the coolest places to visit. We have the strip or hiking trails.
What a fun place to visit! and a true eye opener for our kids. There was no tv, video games, etc. back then, but lots of good old fashioned hard work.
You guys are surely getting lots of insight into how the pioneers lived. It should make you appreciate your cushy home with Mom and Dad, right?
